Calla Lilys

Calla Lilys

Calla lilies are beautiful, elegant plants, but they do require a bit of care to thrive. Here’s a guide to help you take care of them:

Sunlight:

  • Bright, indirect sunlight is ideal. Calla lilies prefer bright light but not direct sunlight, which can scorch their delicate leaves.
  • If growing indoors, place them near a window with filtered light. Outdoors, they prefer partial shade or light dappled sunlight.

Water:

  • Keep the soil moist, but not soggy. Calla lilies like consistently moist soil, but they don’t do well in waterlogged conditions.
  • Water regularly during the growing season (spring through summer) but reduce watering during their dormant period in fall and winter.
  • Ensure good drainage in the pot to prevent root rot.

Temperature:

  • Calla lilies prefer warm temperatures ranging from 65°F to 75°F (18°C to 24°C).
  • Avoid exposing them to temperatures below 50°F (10°C), as they are sensitive to cold.
  • Use well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. A good mix for calla lilies is one that is slightly acidic to neutral (pH 6.0-6.5).
  • For potted plants, ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from accumulating at the bottom.
