The Congo Rojo is a cultivar of the Syngonium podophyllum, also known as the arrowhead plant, but with distinctive coloration. The plant has heart-shaped, arrow-like leaves that start as a red-bronze or reddish-pink color when young, maturing into a dark green with tinges of red and burgundy as the plant matures. It’s a vining plant, often trailing or climbing, which makes it a great option for hanging baskets, shelves, or trellises.
The leaves are shiny and smooth, adding a beautiful glossy texture to any indoor space.Like other Syngoniums, the Congo Rojo is an evergreen in tropical climates, but as a houseplant, it remains vibrant throughout the year. Typically grows to about 1–3 feet tall (or more if supported to climb), and it can spread across 2–3 feet when grown as a trailing plant.
